My surgery

So I went in on New Year's Eve for my surgery. This was a surgery that I was quite nervous about. Not because I was worried that something might go wrong, but because nobody was 100% sure if the surgery was going to fix the pain I was having. Plus we already knew that the ovary wasn't causing one of my issues. So the plan was to...
1.go look in my uterus and see if something was going on there.
2.Then it was off to look at my ovary and remove the three cysts on my left ovary. (this was the most uncertain step because with the size of my cysts they thought it might need to be removed.)
3. Then a quick peek at my right ovary just to be sure.
4.They were also going to look for any spots of potential endometriosis. So that was the plan.

Here's how it went...
1. A look in my uterus found a polyp that is likely the cause of one issue I was having (it is good they found it, and they are 99% it will solve the problem)
2 Off to look at my left ovary where they removed the three cysts plus another solid mass that the doctor said was benign, but hadn't shown up in the ultrasounds. They did not need to remove the ovary.
3. Then they peeked at my right ovary, no problems there.
4 off to look for signs of endometriosis. They found a couple of small spots nothing major they used a laser and took it off.
5. One last look around and wait, I have an appendix that is double its normal size, has a kink in it and is pulling on some of my organs because of the way it is attached! BINGO!! This is most likely the cause of most of the pain in my abdomen. My doctor calls in the general surgeon to have a peek and they all agree it is coming out now!

How lucky am I that they found this? When they said it in post op I thought they were talking to another patient and I was just overhearing it (after all, I wasn't exactly awake yet). So I also had my appendix removed yesterday. I am so thankful that they caught my appendix. I get the chills every time I think about what would have happened if they hadn't. It was a bomb waiting to go off and because I was having problems with my ovary, it would have been hard to diagnose. I can't imagine what I would have done if it had ruptured at home when Chris was at work. Thank God they caught it.
